Make Saturn-style planets from cardboard circles and oval rings for windows, fences, bins or garden stakes.
Recyclon Planet Cutouts is a small, mock-official act of civic daftness: visible, removable, cheap and much easier than explaining Earth politics to a bin.

How to make it
- Cut one circle for each planet.
- Cut a wide oval ring or long strip to pass behind the planet.
- Draw stripes and shadows on the planet.
- Attach the ring behind the circle or slot it through for a Saturn effect.
- Hang small planets in windows and tie larger ones to private fences.
- Repeat the same planet style across the display for cohesion.

Make it more ridiculous
- Make one oversized fence planet.
- Use brown cardboard for a rustic planet and foil for the ring.
- Label each planet as a fictional department.
Keep it sensible
- Attach planets only to surfaces you control, using removable tape, string, pegs or ties.
- Use private property or get permission first.
- Keep exits, pavements, roads, shared spaces and safety notices clear.

Photo tip
Photograph close enough to show the joke, but crop out faces, house numbers, car plates, street signs, private letters and neighbours who did not volunteer for intergalactic administration.
How to remove it
- Peel tape slowly rather than yanking it.
- Untie string and save reusable pieces.
- Recycle clean card and paper.
- Wipe any chalk pen or residue with a suitable cleaner for that surface.
Tiny version
Make one handwritten A4 sign, place it somewhere you control, enjoy the tiny constitutional incident for five minutes, then remove it cleanly.
Big version
Build a three-part display with a headline sign, a fictional department, props, and one completely unnecessary label for maximum bureaucratic nonsense.
Why it works
The images use ringed planets everywhere: in windows, on fences and on the wheelie bin. That repeated shape ties the whole street display together.
Cut a planet circle from cardboard, then cut a separate oval ring. Slice two small slots in the planet so the ring can slide through, or simply tape the ring behind the planet if you want the fast version.
Decorate with marker-pen stripes, foil highlights or recycled brown-card texture. Hang small planets in windows and save the bigger ones for fences or bins where the shape can be read from the pavement.
