How to make it
- Cut a set of matching triangles.
- Decorate each triangle with one bold space symbol.
- Fold the top of each triangle over string and tape it down.
- Alternate silver, black and brown-card flags.
- Tie the garland to your own fence, door or inside window.
- Check it cannot blow loose or snag anyone.

Make it more ridiculous
- Add a tiny rocket flag in the centre.
- Make a matching mini garland for the door.
- Use clothes pegs so flags can be rearranged.

- Keep bunting on your own fence, door or window; do not stretch it across pavements, shared access or public space.
- Use private property or get permission first.
- Keep exits, pavements, roads, shared spaces and safety notices clear.

How to remove it
- Peel tape slowly rather than yanking it.
- Untie string and save reusable pieces.
- Recycle clean card and paper.
- Wipe any chalk pen or residue with a suitable cleaner for that surface.
Tiny version
Make one handwritten A4 sign, place it somewhere you control, enjoy the tiny constitutional incident for five minutes, then remove it cleanly.
Big version
Build a three-part display with a headline sign, a fictional department, props, and one completely unnecessary label for maximum bureaucratic nonsense.
Why it works
Bunting gives the display cohesion because it connects separate objects into one cheerful space theme. The photos use triangles in silver, black and plain cardboard, decorated with stars and planets.
Cut a stack of triangles, fold the top edge over string, and tape or staple the fold. Cover some triangles with foil, leave some as brown card, and colour a few black for contrast. Add one clear symbol per flag: a star, a rocket, a ringed planet or a moon.
Tie the garland to a private fence, inside a window, or across your own door. Let it sag slightly for charm, but keep it high and secure enough that nobody has to duck under homemade democracy.
